Just a little payback to help you through the mid-week slump. I know how much you love a man who knows how to whip out his, um, knives...and would "Take Home" this one any day.

Blame It On the Snow That Was Finally Falling
I went to a fireside tonight with Henry. I sort of misunderstood the fireside program. I thought that he would be singing, but as it turns out his dad and step mom were actually speaking in Henry's Stake at Henry's church building and he sang one song in between.
I show up and talk to his dad again and meet his wife. Henry's mom died the same year my mom did and his dad has since remarried. She is a lovely woman and I really like his dad. They talked about their "courtship" it was endearing, cute and totally adorable. I love his dad. They are an awesome couple. His dad said some really nice things about Henry and at one point said something about wanting him to get married. Henry's whole face went bright red. I laughed and laughed. It was hilarious.
Since it was a Stake fireside, I met Henry's last four bishops, the Stake Presidency and their wives and several members of Henry's ward. One family invited us over for ice cream. Super cute couple with six kids. The question came up of how we met and Henry explained that we have several friends in common and when I ended up moving back here some of them said that we should meet. He then said that he didn't do anything about it. Then another friend told him that he should give me a call and he thought that all these people must know something. He finally called me and voila! Here were are - where ever "here" is?
I got the looks and questions tonight - totally not as awkward as it could have been. One member of the Stake Presidency asked if I was Henry's "friend". Yep. I am. then I got the how do you know each other. Another guy who was there said - they're dating that's how they know each other. I am pretty sure that my face turned red here. Good times. Still not the most awkward moment of the night. You need to keep reading for that one.
After we had ice cream with the fun family it was time to go and Henry drove me back to the church parking lot where we left one of the cars. He asked me if I was free this week - hopefully we are going out on Thursday. No. Not the awkward moment...we talked for a minute in the car and then he said that he had something for me. We get out of the car and he hands me a tin of cookies. Which are super tasty. No he did not make them.
I will add a side note here because I forgot and I because you need to wait for the awkward moment a bit longer. I made something for Henry and his dad. I wasn't sure if I should give the treat to his dad, but I knew I would give it to Henry. I tried to call a friend for advice on this matter, but no one was home tonight! Henry's dad did remember the candy that Henry gave him last time we saw each other and he mentioned it tonight, so it was the perfect opening. I gave him the treats and he taunted Henry with it saying that he would only let him smell the box I wrapped them in. I told Henry that I had a box for him in my car and so he said that I get my own box dad. We walked his parents out to their car before going to have ice cream with the family and Henry's dad said let's all go to dinner. Henry agreed only if we got to pick the restaurant.
Fast forward back to the car scene. He just gave me the cookies. We stood outside talking a bit longer. Okay - here it comes...let me also say that on the way to the fireside I was listening to my hopefully "not" theme song and I sort of talked myself into being brave. I kept thinking what if I get in an accident tonight and I never have the chance again. Also, I think I could hear my friend's voice in my head telling me that she wouldn't talk to me if I didn't get brave.
Just to recap - Henry's dad makes a marriage comment from the podium, I get the are you dating Henry question several times, ice cream with family and get asked all the usual dating questions, all awkward, but nothing like this. Henry goes to give me a hug, I hugged back. And then...I turned my head and smack - yes. I gave Henry a kiss on the cheek. Not a totally awkward thing to do, except...I had chap stick on my lips (think sort of like lip gloss chap stick) probably a little minty and left a glossy imprint. Here is the sad, sad, sad, part...I made the kissing noise. Let me repeat...I kissed him on the cheek and while I kissed him something inside of me made the kissing noise and not just a small noise but the kind that reverberated off the mountains and could have possibly started a small avalanche. Yes. I am that girl. What was I thinking? Why? Am I two? It was the kind of kiss your kids give you. After I gave him the horrible cheek kiss I said thanks for the cookies and pulled away. Henry never missed a beat he said your welcome (he did have a smile on his face) and that he would call me about Thursday. I jumped in my car and had to sit there for a minute to replay that scene again in my mind the only problem was the noise from the kiss kept echoing in my head.
The good news is I have probably entertained you and I will laugh about it - eventually. If you see me and know me, please no kissing noises. I can't take it right now.

Wii Love Rock Band...Once Wii Got it to Work
Tonight was Rick's birthday party. We played Rock Band...let me say here that between the ten adults at the party no one actually knew how to get Wii to sync the remotes so wii could play. It was comical how much trouble we had. Once we finally got it playing we couldn't get past the intro to get to the singing...sadly we were playing on the EASY level! Where's all the kids when you need them. Rick wanted to blame the low battery power, I think it was operator error. We had a pinata that Rick destroyed sort of...he knocked it down, but it didn't break. We pitched it to him like a baseball and then it finally broke open. He loves candy so we sent it all home with him.
We had fajitas, a fiesta, sombrero's, moustaches, pinata, and way too much fun. Henry came and he fit in really well with our group of friends. He rocked the mic with Band on the Run and he played the piano to another song that Roger sang. It's amazing to me that he can just sit down and accompany someone while playing Rock Band. He said that he had a good time and it was nice to have him join our festivities. I am going to a fireside with him on Sunday night.
I did get a kiss that night...not from Henry though. Rick gave me a kiss on the cheek at least I can now say I've been kissed this year!

Go Fight Win!
I went on a date with Henry tonight. I met him at his work and we drove together from there. We went to a sporting event. I wasn't sure how much fun it was going to be, but it was great. He loves sports. It was fun to see him so excited about the home team doing well. They won the game and I think that makes it more fun to be in the stadium watching the game with all the other fans.
After the game was over we were trying to leave and Henry (pause for dramatic effect). He reached out and grabbed my hand. Oh. So cute. Well...at least we have made some physical contact. It was snowing pretty good when we left and so it took us a little longer to get back to his work. We ate a late dinner and I had a great time. I am now officially confused by this guy.
I have so much fun with him, but there is something so strange about this dating process. We have a good time together, I think that he really enjoys spending time with me, he is easy to talk to, I even feel comfortable in the quiet times. You know how sometimes you can't have silence because it feels wrong? I don't get that with him. But then we have no contact for a while and it is just going so slowly. I know he told me that he was taking it slow, but seriously?
As he was leaving, he did hug me for longer than he normally does. I paused and looked into his eyes, but nothing. It wasn't the "kissing hug". We had broken apart and I stood there (like an idiot) kind of looking at him trying to decide if I should say something. Nope. Couldn't do it. The moment just wasn't right. Maybe next time. Or maybe it will be like Laverne keeps telling me in a few more months! I hope not. I am looking forward to seeing how long it takes him to kiss me. I'm thinking we should take bets. He is coming on Tuesday for the party we are having for Rick. Anyone think I will get kissed that night?

Are You Kidding Me?
Tonight I was sitting at home watching American Idol and there was a knock at my door. I look around at my dirty, messy house and think it's okay because you can't see the big mess from the front door. Also, I notice that I don't have too many stains on my sweats and I guess it's okay to answer the door without make-up on. Right? I turn the light on and look out the peep hole and think - Are you kidding me?
Who is standing on my doorstep, but Henry. Why? Why? Why? He showed up a week early for the party. He did say that he was using that as an excuse just so he could see me. I said really? Actually, no he just saw Tuesday on the invite and showed up. Great. Welcome to my life.
He came in, I offered to feed him and he did ask me out for this weekend. I can't decide if it's just me or if our interactions are different, I think that it's just me. He was wearing his scarf that I made him and said how much he loved it. I don't know what to make of this. Help!

Euphoria
There is nothing quite like having a cute boy call you, take you out or at least pay attention to you. Henry is proving to be quite frustrating lately. NO communication, little contact and yet I still feel like he possibly is interested. Am I delusional? Not sure? The jury's still out on that one.
I believe that he wouldn't just stop calling or asking to do things with me without cause and without saying something to me. He has agreed to come to a party I am having next week for a friend's birthday. A friend that he doesn't know and he will only know myself and Laverne at the party. I guess in his way he is still saying that he is interested. Right?
Why do we obsess about this lack of communication from guys?
